Why we're building SPRUV

Discovery begins with someone willing to listen.

01 — The problem

The industry stopped listening

Every day, thousands of independent artists release music that deserves an audience. Most of it is never truly heard — not because it isn't good, but because discovery has become noisy, crowded and increasingly driven by algorithms optimising for anything except the song itself.

Playlists became gates. Submissions became transactions. Attention became a market. And somewhere in that shift, the quiet act of a person actually listening to a new artist started to disappear.

02 — Why we exist

Why we started SPRUV

We started SPRUV because independent music deserves better places to grow. Not louder places. Not faster places. Better ones — where the people deciding what gets played actually care about what they're hearing.

SPRUV isn't trying to replace the streaming platforms. It exists a step earlier: the moment a song leaves the artist and begins its journey toward the first listeners who might believe in it.

03 — What it is

What SPRUV is

SPRUV is a platform where independent artists can submit Spotify tracks for playlist consideration by real human curators.

Plainly:

  • Artists paste a Spotify link.
  • Real people listen to the track.
  • Tracks are considered for curated playlists.
  • No bots. No fake streams. No pay-to-play. No guaranteed placements.

04 — The human part

Why human curation matters

Algorithms are good at sorting. They're not good at meaning. They can measure what a song sounds like, but not what it feels like, what it's trying to say, or which listener it might change the day of.

Curation is a human act. It takes context, taste, patience and care. That's what we're protecting — the space where a person hears something new and thinks, this belongs somewhere.

05 — What we believe

What we believe

  • Music deserves real listeners.

  • Independent artists deserve a fair chance to be heard.

  • Playlist placement should never be something you buy.

  • Discovery should be based on fit, taste and care.

  • Human judgment still matters.

  • Growth should never come at the cost of trust.

  • We'd rather grow carefully than compromise what SPRUV is.

06 — How we work

Our principles

  1. 01We listen before we decide.
  2. 02We do not sell placements.
  3. 03We do not promise streams.
  4. 04We put music before metrics.
  5. 05We take curation seriously.
  6. 06We build trust slowly.
  7. 07We choose people over shortcuts.
  8. 08We build for independent artists.

07 — The long view

Where we're going

SPRUV is still early. That's intentional. We'd rather build carefully than quickly, and the artists joining today are helping shape what SPRUV becomes tomorrow.

Every submission is reviewed by a person. Artists keep ownership of their music. We don't sell placements, and we don't promise streams — because trust, once traded, doesn't come back.

We're building for the long term. For a place independent artists can return to, and for curators who take listening seriously.

08 — An invitation

If this is the kind of music discovery you believe in too, we'd love to hear your music.

Every submission is reviewed by a human. No bots. No pay-to-play.
